As a summer update here at Northern Comfort my family decided recently to regroup together full-time back at Hamilton and put our greenhouse plans on hold for a time. As such, I have decided this year to delay one more year. Northern Comfort is not ready yet either, although I am getting through these critical projects. My plan is still to cruise from November to February and work from March to October, as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to stay on the boat and work on the boat. We&#8217;re trying to fit in some enjoyment as well as work out some of the boat projects. The critical projects that I have deemed &#8216;necessary before cruising&#8217; is getting smaller. At the same time we are getting some fun in there, learning how to sail the new (to us) dinghy, eating some tasty and healthy food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall a small delay isn&#8217;t going to take too much out of our plans.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sailons.com\/northerncomfort\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_4589-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-799\" width=\"292\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sailons.com\/northerncomfort\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_4589-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.sailons.com\/northerncomfort\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_4589-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.sailons.com\/northerncomfort\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_4589-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, https:\/\/www.sailons.com\/northerncomfort\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_4589.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" \/><figcaption>Critical Boat Projects<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Our boat projects list is getting smaller but it has been difficult in the summer to use the boat and work on the boat. I haven&#8217;t been blessed with fair weather in the winter to get some fibreglassing done so I need to do some this summer. As you can see from the project list here the list still has quite a few items on it. This winter we knocked off some huge ones; solar arch, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victronenergy.com\/inverters-chargers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">victron inverter charger<\/a>, victron power control, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amperetime.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LiFoPO4 batteries<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These were critical projects on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sailons.com\/northerncomfort\/electric-motor-conversion\/\">the conversion project<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The small list on the upper right of sticky pads are the completed projects. We&#8217;re getting there, one step at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So for the summer update, I am hoping that next March\/April launch I will spend a month in the water getting the boat fully prepared and then travelling down the St Lawrence to the Maritimes in June\/July 2023. Then I&#8217;ll hope to continue the cruise next November to the sunny south next winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will keep updating as we go!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well life as usual throws up some curveballs.
