Summer Update: Plans a changing…

Enjoying some dinner!

Well life as usual throws up some curveballs. As a summer update here at Northern Comfort my family decided recently to regroup together full-time back at Hamilton and put our greenhouse plans on hold for a time. As such, I have decided this year to delay one more year. Northern Comfort is not ready yet either, although I am getting through these critical projects. My plan is still to cruise from November to February and work from March to October, as possible.

It’s hard to stay on the boat and work on the boat. We’re trying to fit in some enjoyment as well as work out some of the boat projects. The critical projects that I have deemed ‘necessary before cruising’ is getting smaller. At the same time we are getting some fun in there, learning how to sail the new (to us) dinghy, eating some tasty and healthy food.

Overall a small delay isn’t going to take too much out of our plans.

Critical Boat Projects

Our boat projects list is getting smaller but it has been difficult in the summer to use the boat and work on the boat. I haven’t been blessed with fair weather in the winter to get some fibreglassing done so I need to do some this summer. As you can see from the project list here the list still has quite a few items on it. This winter we knocked off some huge ones; solar arch, victron inverter charger, victron power control, LiFoPO4 batteries.

These were critical projects on the conversion project.

The small list on the upper right of sticky pads are the completed projects. We’re getting there, one step at a time.

So for the summer update, I am hoping that next March/April launch I will spend a month in the water getting the boat fully prepared and then travelling down the St Lawrence to the Maritimes in June/July 2023. Then I’ll hope to continue the cruise next November to the sunny south next winter.

We will keep updating as we go!
