Finally able to diagnose power systems with Victron’s Remote Monitoring – VRM

Ep126

This VRM system has really hit the data nerd in me but it’s also a very useful tool. This tool has enabled me to figure out that I have leaky power in my induction cooktop and able to see that I don’t quite have enough batteries for my comfort level.

I have posted more information on this on our Patreon site.

In this video, I went through Victron Energy’s VRM – Victron Remote Monitoring

I touched on the dashboard and how I use it, and I took a quick look at the Advanced section which has widgets of data that creates a great way to do some analysis.

When I finally got the temperature monitor working by attaching it to one of the phases of my electric motor controller (the VEC500) I was able to actually see how my electric motor controller temperature was doing under various loads. I didn’t have to stand over it with a temp gun and try to keep running tests which is inconstant and time consuming. I could just run the motor and then go back and look at data. This tool increases accuracy and helps with decision making.

Hope you enjoy this one. I am working on a longer piece to go with the liquid cooling data here on our site.

Fair winds!
