In this season I don’t make it to the sea, but I do make all the final pieces to get to the sea. I had a short list of “expensive” projects (both in time and money), I seemed to leave these to the end but I considered them necessary before cruising to the coast.
a) I want to be able to see (Radar)
b) I want to be able to be seen (AIS)
c) I want to be able to keep the boat on course (Auto Pilot) while going on deck to fix something
d) I want to be able to anchor safely (Windlass and Anchor Chain)
Ep181 Installed mast conduit and new wiring. Finally no wire slapping in the mast while at anchor! Amazing!
Ep 176-180 was a series of unboxing and install of Radar, Autopilot and the anchor chain. I also pulled out the beautiful maple floor and went back to basics.
It was a brutal Winter.
Ep171 I renamed the boat, from Northern Comfort to Northern Comfort IV – an official boat registration now!
Ep 167 to 170 was a few things but I pulled the boat out of the water mid season to deal with the bent prop shaft. After trying everything I had a custom prop shaft built up.
Ep 166 – An unexpected keel repair – I had a slight crack appear on the front of the encapsulated keel – fiberglass repair time
Ep 165 – Out in the winter talking about the journey and the winter water fowl. Nature is beautiful!
